Gemstone Mining in Star Citizen

4 types of gemstones

You can mine these gemstones using a Greycat ROC, a land mining vehicle designed for larger rock clusters. Alternatively, you can opt for manual mining with the OreBit Mining Attachment for your Pyro RYT Multi-Tool. These methods serve as an ideal entry point for a mining career and offer a way to earn credits.

A dull green gemstone that is used decoratively but also can be used for industrial purposes thanks to is resistance to weathering and high density.Price per: 130 aUECDolivine can be found on Lyria and Wala, moons of ArcCorp. Yela, moon of Crusader. Magda and Ita, moons of Hurston. And all around Microtech and its moons, Calliope, Clio and Euterpe.

Hadanite gem on display

Hadanite

A crystal oscillator sought out for its extremely high frequency of vibration which makes it useful in various applications.Price per: 275 aUECHadanite can be found on Daymar, moon of Crusader. And on the moons of Hurston, Arial, Aberdeen, Magda and Ita.

Janalite gem in a hand

The elusive Janalite, very rare and valuable.Price per: 17,640 aUECJanalite can be found in caves. More precisely sand caves. It is currently very hard to find, but if you do find a rock, it'll make you rich.

Mining Gems by Hand:

  1. Purchase a Pyro RYT Multi-Tool with the OreBit Mining Attachment from in-game vendors. These tools are designed for handheld mining.

  2. Explore planetary surfaces and locate small mineable rocks. These rocks contain gems.

  3. Equip the personal mining tool in your character's hand.

  4. Aim at the rock and the scanning mode will help you identify the resistance of the rock.

  5. Aim the mining tool at the deposit and use the mining mode to fracture the rock. Pay attention to the energy levels to avoid overheating.

  6. As you mine, the gems will scatter. Collect them with the extraction mode on your tool. They will be stored in your personal inventory.

  7. Travel to a trade hub or processing facility to sell the gems.

Mining Gems with a Greycat ROC:

  1. Get a Greycat ROC ground vehicle. You can buy or rent one in-game at various locations. The ROC is a dedicated mining land vehicle. It comes equipped with a mining laser by default.

  2. Go to a mining facility on one of the locations where gems are found and spawn your ROC there. Load it into your ship. Good choices for this are ships like the Cutlass Black or the Freelancer Max. Other ships are also capable of carrying the ROC; it depends on what you have. If you don't have a big enough ship to carry a ROC, you can rent both a Cutlass Black and a ROC from the same ship rental terminal at a refinery shop in a Lagrange Point Station like CRU-L1.

  3. Explore planetary surfaces and look for mineable deposits with your ship scanner. These deposits may contain gems along with other valuable minerals.

  4. Once you find a suitable location, deploy the ROC from your ship.

  5. Position the ROC near the mineable deposit. Use the scanning feature to analyze the resistance of the deposit.

  6. Activate the ROC's mining laser. The laser will charge the rock to extract the gems. Careful not to overcharge a rock. It could damage your ROC.

  7. The gems will be scattered around and you collect them with the extraction mode of the ROC. The gems will be store in the ROC's inventory.

  8. Once your ROC cargo is full or you feel that you've mined enough, return to your ship. You can either transfer the cargo from the ROC to the ship and continue your mining, or you can go sell.

  9. Travel to a trade hub or processing facility to sell the gems you've mined.

Best Place to Mine for Hadanite

Hadanite is one of the more valuable gems that is relatively easy to find, making it the primary target for most ROC miners. We recommend collecting any gems you come across, such as aphorite, dolivine, and hadanite during your mining session. This approach ensures you gather the most rocks and provides the quickest way to earn credits. The best place for finding hadanite is the moon Aberdeen, which orbits Hurston. Hadanite is particularly abundant on Aberdeen. However, it's essential to note that the moon's environment is extremely hot. For mining there, it's advisable to wear a Pembroke Exploration Suit, known for its heat resistance. You can purchase the Pembroke Exploration Suit at the refinery shop in various Lagrange Point stations, as well as from Tammany and Sons in Lorville on Hurston."Another good place to mine for hadanite is Daymar, a moon of the gas giant Crusader. Daymar has a more moderate temperature and you wont need a Pembroke Exploration Suit there. We have found abundant deposits of aphorite, dolivine, and hadanite on Daymar, and we would qualify it as our go-to place to look for hadanite.
